I lived right next to fields, sky, clumps of trees, a small river, and a massive prairie ocean. All these pictures are taken within about 2 miles of my house. After spending my first few decades in a big city, it took me awhile to quiet down, slow down, listen, notice. I love the many emotions of the lake and the river, and the sky's seasons: the coming of the pelicans and the departing of the geese, the fireflies of the marshland, the croak of frogs. I have been to every province and territory and nowhere have I found the breathtaking, magical colour and light of the prairies---that changes mood with a whisper barely heard in the grass, or with a howl of winter wind that shakes the house. West Light attempts to express this.
